Get to know Nancy Fisher

Nancy Fisher moved to Boonville, Missouri in 1982. She has been married to Truman (a lifetime Cooper County resident and BHS class of 1982) for the past 28 years. The Fishers have two children: Kelly, 27 (BHS class of 2000) who resides in Ocean Springs, Mississippi with James and their two children, Jerzy and Kayli. Brian, who is 24, (BHS class of 2003) lives in Boonville, Missouri.

Nancy began her career working at the local Hardee’s restaurant from 1985 until 1998. She gained valuable management experience as restaurant MANAGER during her last three years with Hardee’s.

From there, Nancy spent ten months working at Guaranty Land Title Company until September 1999. Little did she know, she was preparing for her future career advancement.

Nancy then started working in the Cooper County Court House in September 1999 as the Deputy Recorder of Deeds. In August 2002, she moved to the Deputy Circuit Clerk position. Her advancement continued in January 2006, when she assumed the Financial Accounts Supervisor position. In June 2007, she was named Chief Deputy Circuit Clerk.

Nancy believes it is imperative to be a life-long learner. She has demonstrated this by:
        • Attending and completing a 56 hour professional Supervision course sponsored by Missouri State University in May 2007
        • Attending and completing a nine month Court Manager training program sponsored by the National Center for State Courts in April 2009

Nancy has also served as a Court Clerk College Faculty member facilitating courses in Domestic Relations and Child Support. She has done this for the fall and spring sessions from 2008 to the present.

Education

Nancy Fisher, Chief Deputy Clerk of Cooper County completed the nationally recognized Court Management Program sponsored by the National Center for State Courts Institute for Court Management. This program was offered through the Missouri Coordinating Commission for Judicial Education of the Supreme Court of Missouri's Office of State Courts Administrator.  Nancy was one of 39 court personnel from across the state who participated in this nine-month training program. The Court Management Program consisted of five core courses and a concluding seminar targeting the professional development of mid and executive level court managers. The program design is relevant to the daily practice of court management and reflects the full range of court manager responsibilities. As a result of completing this intensive program, Nancy has been awarded "Court Manager" certification by the National Institute for Court Management.
